The need for PVD Prep arises from significant performance gaps in Providence Public Schools (PPSD), where, according to a 2019 Johns Hopkins report, 90% of students were not proficient in math, and 86% were not proficient in English Language Arts (ELA). This report was a key driver in establishing PVD Prep, highlighting the community's urgent need for quality public school options.

Our 2030 academic outcome goals:

  • Achieve four star designation in RIDE’s school classification system

  • Graduate no less than 90% of our eighth graders to high schools where no less than 90% of students Graduate in 4 years and enroll in competitive colleges or universities

  • Score #1 in the City of Providence and at or above state averages in ELA, Math and Science Proficiency (RICAS, NGSA)

  • Achieve average 1.5 years growth in reading and math (STAR)
